Ms Robina Nakao (CEO FexCO & General Manager Western Union) was received at the Royal Palace on Tuesday, 19th July to present a cheque for $20,700 to Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’u. This donation is for the Queen’s charity projects following the volcanic eruption and the Tsunami on Saturday 15 January, 2022.
Her Majesty’s Charity Committee’s relief assistance has continued since
February following, the volcanic eruption and tsunami and has distributed
over hundreds of relief supplies received from various international donors
and Tongan communities from Australia, New Zealand, Hawai’i and the United
States of America.
Relief Supplies included food, clothing, shoes, home and gardening appliances and housing upholstery and a kind donation of a relief assistance transport vehicle from SomeOne Who Cares Foundation in Australia to assist in the Charity’s distribution efforts.






Additionally, supplies also included much needed medical and health supplies
and COVID-19 supplies donated by Australian organizations – MedEarth,
SmartAid, 3M medical supplies, Equinox Medical Supplies, Hornsby
Hospital and Kereena Hospital and SpecSavers Australia & New Zealand
who donated 100,000 pairs of reading glasses to the Ministry of Health for the people of Tonga.
Assistance and Relief Supplies were distributed by Her Majesty’s Charity
Committee in cooperation with Tongatapu People’s Representatives, His
Majesty’s Armed Forces, local communities, The Governor’s Office in Vava’u
and volunteers at Ha’apai and ‘Eua to ensure the relief supplies are received
by the affected families and communities as well as, Primary Schools, High
Schools and Tertiary Schools in Tongatapu, Vava’u, Ha’apai and ‘Eua.
The Charity Committee wishes to acknowledge and thank all international
donors and Tongan communities locally and abroad for their efforts to
provide provisions for the People of Tonga during this difficult time.
